CAKE!

Owyn loves cake.  That's a real shocker, I know.  Our neighbor just brought over some cup cakes.  That got his attention.

"Cake!"  Mama, "You can only have some after dinner."

Owyn is sitting at the table right now, patiently waiting for dinner so he can have cake.

Rhys' List

Tracy got Owyn a Handy Manny doll for his birthday.  He doesn't like it at all.  Rhys, on the other hand, loves it.

Manny came with a backpack, a flashlight and a list.  It's an odd assortment when you consider the dude is a handy man.  No tools at all.  He does have a pencil behind his ear.  It doesn't come off though.

Rhys was playing with Manny in my office.  He was disappointed that the pencil didn't come off because he wanted to add to the list.  I told him that he could just pretend to write with it because he is good at pretending.

Rhys pretended to take the pencil off and write on the three blank lines of the list.  "Go to Nana & Grandad's House".  "Go bye bye eats."  "Go home."

Rhys has been very excited to go spend the night with Nana and Grandad, but he can't until the middle of April.  He figures, in the way of small children and half of my co-workers, that if he doesn't like the answer and keeps asking it will change.

Home again

I'm home from another deployment.  The boys were very good for Mama this time.  That is a nice change as they were not good the last one.

Tracy and both boys met me at the airport.  When they saw me, through the crowd, they came running up, "Daddy, Daddy!".  It was just as good as the day dreams.  I kneeled down and they both hit me at full speed.  Rhys was whispering "My Daddy, my Daddy, my Daddy".  over and over as he hugged me.

As we waited for my bags I told them that I had a present for them.  Toy Story 2 had come out on Blue Ray the day before.  It is their current favorite, so I bought it before I left Hawaii.  When Owyn heard that he had a present he said "I want present.  Cake.  Pizza.  I want present".  Apparently presents means a party.  Parties have cake and pizza.  I mean, jeeze, who doesn't know that.  Owyn knows it.

Rhys has been glued to me all week.  He is very concerned that I am going to go "bye bye work" again.  I am, but not for a few months.

The only good thing about these deployments is that they make us all aware of how much we love each other.  We are reminded not to take each other for granted.

It is GOOD to be home.

Mama's car pooted

Owyn can't say his ending P's yet.  He always ends the word with a T sound instead.  Except for Up.  He can say that.

I went on a road trip a week ago.  On the way back I drove through some lousy weather in New Mexico.  Down there they put red sand on the roads when it snows.  All of I-25 through New Mexico was covered with red sand.  This is a good thing, however, a lot of that sand stuck to Mama's car.

I did not park in the garage the night I got home, hoping that most of it would come off in the driveway and not in the garage.  Most of it did.

Tracy parked in the garage that next night.  When she and the boys went out to get in the car, in the morning, there were big clumps of sand on the floor.

Owyn looked at it and said "Oh no!"  "Mama's car pooted (pooped)!"
